23 February 2015
Zebra MotionWorks™ has won the People's Choice award at the 2014 Internet of Things Awards by Postscapes for the implementation of it's real-time location system (RTLS) for sports. Of the 15 nominations in the connected body product category, the Zebra sports solution garnered the most public votes. The award recognizes the successful tie-in and deployment of the solution during the 2014 NFL season, including the Superbowl.
The Zebra MotionWorks™ sports solution has been a highly successful partnership for Zebra Technologies, providing a great platform for an exciting and new application of their Internet of Things technology. The system provides NFL and their broadcasting partners real-time statistics with precise location and motion performance data. The speed and ease in which the data is provided and analysed has provided a new level of understanding for fans and those actively involved in the industry alike.
Jill Stelfox, vice president and general manager of Location Solutions, Zebra Technologies comments on receiving the award:
The Zebra Sports Solution can enhance all aspects of the game, most notably the fan experience, but also things like coaching, scouting, training, and officiating. Real-time insight into the action - this is what we provide every day for more than 90% of the world’s Fortune 500 companies that employ our solutions. It could be as basic as a barcode label on a box and tracking it through the supply chain…it’s all about gaining visibility.”
